Branding, Marketing & Launch for a comedy podcast turned TV show.

The Challenge

Comedy Bang! Bang! had a dedicated following in the podcast world, but was looking to widen its audience for its transitional launch as a TV show on IFC.

The Audience

CBB’s audience of comedy enthusiasts were targeted, but comedy film, sketch comedy, and indie music/pop culture fan bases were the broader focus as we looked to convert intersected interests to viewing numbers.

The Approach

Conventional thought and mainstream advertising layouts were the enemy in this campaign. The oddball/subversive nature of CBB’s podcast had only been increased for the TV show, so we knew the right path would be taking a highly conceptual route with self aware and deconstructed billboards and imagery in advertisement that turned any expectation for a comedy show advertisement on its head.

Results

The launch of CBB was a big success for IFC, with numbers well beyond initial projections and leading the network to renew the series for another season, ultimately running for five seasons.
